Cassia Fistula - Seeds and Germination
After soaking seeds in warm water and/or scarifying the hard seed coat we can grow this beautiful tree.
Put the seeds in warm water for 48 hours. This specie can also be scarifyed by a soft
sandpaper. You can put the seeds in warm water for a day after that.
The ideal substrate is a mixture of sand and black peat in equal parts.
Mix and water it well. Drain the mixture, pressing to expel all the water.
The soil has to be wet but no waterlogged.
Fill with the soil the container chosen to sow the seeds.
Put the seeds on the substrate, leaving two cm between them.
Cover with a layer of soil equal to the thickness of the seed.
The seeds may take 20-50 days to germinate under perfect conditions.
For all that time we have to keep constant moisture and temperature.
In order to improve germination, the temperature should be around 22-30ºC.
